The Spectre, Rolls Royce’s first all-electric car, made its official presentation in China on December 17. When it is released, the price will started at 5.75 million yuan. Deliveries will begin at the fourth quarter of year 2019, and pre-orders are now being accepted.
The Rolls-Royce Spectre is referred to as a “ultra-luxury electrified super coupe.” It uses the two-door, four-seat GT’s design and shares the same exterior style as the gasoline version model. The two-door coupe also features a sporty-looking car body. Its front face is comprised of a Parthenon grille and split headlamps on either side. The Parthenon air intake grille, which is made of polished stainless steel, is the widest front grille in Rolls-Royce’s history.
Based on all-aluminum Rolls-Royce’s “luxury architecture,” the Spectre is using the cutting-edge SPIRIT software architecture and the Whispers connectivity service. It is a two-door, four-seat coupe with dimensions of 5453/2080/1559mm in length, width, and height, a wheelbase of 3210mm, a turning radius of 12.7m, and a weight of 2975kg. The front face maintains the magnificent design of Rolls-Royce.
Moreover, the car uses the widely used split light assembly, closely following BMW’s pace. The famous Celebration Goddess was kept, but the statue was modified for the best aerodynamic performance, with the Spectre having a wind drag coefficient of only 0.25Cd after extensive testing and optimization.
The interior of a Rolls-Royce manifests the car’s opulent components, craftsmanship, and textures. Despite having a generally smooth line, it is able to highlight the sense of luxury. It features a center screen, an all-LCD dashboard, and a screen for the front passenger that displays the symbol of Spectre surrounded by 5,500 dazzling “stars.”
The cockpit of the Spirit infotainment system, which is based on BMW’s 8th generation iDrive platform, was installed inside the Rolls-Royce Spectre. To verify that the Rolls-Royce Spectr can adapt to data relating to “temperature, ground speed, road type, vehicle condition, and driving style,” engineers have previously tested the vehicle on 25,000 kilometers of road.
With 4,796 soft stars on the twin panels, the Shining is also the first vehicle to have a star door. Other brands now have access to the design, and copycats are soon anticipated to follow.
The chassis system is the essence of the car. It has an independent suspension system that allows the wheels to turn without the anti-roll bar. As the suspension detects a turn, it will become more rigid and reduce incline. The 141,200 transponders continuously monitor and adjust the vehicle for varied speeds, road types, vehicle circumstances, driving styles, and even various climate to make the passengers as comfortable as possible.
Regarding power, a motor with a maximum power of 430 KW, a peak torque of 900 NM, and a driving range of 585 km under CLTC conditions is fitted to the vehicle. The power system of the automobile is currently being optimized, which should take many months. Anyway, the final data may change, but not significantly.
The Rolls-Royce Spectre is the first step toward full electrification, which the company hopes to achieve by 2030. In contrast, Rolls- Royce’s parent company, BMW, has yet to announce when it will transition to 100% electrification.
