The short sales cycle, the end of the purchase tax policy, and the Spring Festival holiday were a few of the factors that contributed to the frigid auto market in January. Overall, the Japanese and joint venture camps displayed a decreasing trend, and the new forces engaged in an internal volume price war were completely out of control. With a total sales of 75500 units, both of which were twice as high as those of Japanese automakers, GAC Toyota made a solid start in January as a mainstream joint venture after its production and sales hit 1 million in 2022, and its sales volume ranked first among Japanese automakers.

GAC Toyota has achieved steady development of high quality

GAC Toyota has achieved high-quality and consistent development through its leading production and marketing scale, high-value product structure, all-around electrification, and intelligent layout. In January, electric models sold 26423 units, accounting for 35% of total sales; dual-engine models sold 24615 units, accounting for 32.6 percent. This represents a significant increase from 29.3% in 2022.

The high-end performance of GAC Toyota is also quite impressive. The three flagship cars sold 29,689 units in January, accounting for nearly 40% of total sales, with a 39% month-on-month increase, achieving high value leadership. Sena sold 8007 units in January, exceeding 8000 for the first time, setting a record and topping the hybrid MPVS sales list. Since its introduction in 2018, the eighth generation Camry has sold over a million units, with a total of 1001185 units sold, continuing to lead the middle and premium sedan segments. Highlander sold 7116 units in January, far outnumbering similar models and ranking first in the hybrid SUV market. It is worth noting that Fenglanda has sold 102161 units since its initial public offering and exceeded the 10000 unit sales threshold in just one year, underscoring the enormous potential for its value explosion

In the face of accelerating electric industry transformation, GAC Toyota, as the “leader” of Japanese joint venture automobile enterprises, continues to improve the penetration rate of the electric market, achieve high value growth, adhere to high-quality and stable management, and firmly implement the policy of “manufacturing city” in Guangzhou.

GAC Toyota has built the strongest HEV team with the most models, the broadest coverage, the best product structure, and the best sales performance since the launch of the intelligent electric hybrid engine. At present, the entire GAC Toyota series is equipped with an intelligent electric hybrid engine, and there are as many as eight models available, covering the three market segments of sedan, SUV, and MPV. Its power has made it the sales champion of multiple market segments. Toyota will expand further this year, releasing 12 intelligent electric hybrid with dual engine to complete the full range of intelligent electric hybrid TNGA models.

With the comprehensive development of intelligent electric hybrid with dual engines, the sales volume of intelligent models exceeded 65000 units in January, accounting for nearly 87% of the total sales, making intelligent models the primary sales force. 

In the joint venture camp, sales of dual-engine models have surpassed 820000 units as of January, and it is anticipated that they will break the previous HEV sales record of one million units this year. In 2023, GAC Toyota will use the capability of one million system as the cornerstone, further advance the electrification and strategy of science and technology development, satisfy the demand for “high driving interest, true intelligence, and no anxiety” cars from customers, solidify the joint venture’s “new head” position, and sprint to the next one million record in the era of intelligent electric hybrid with dual engine!
